When revealed to be a boy, Ryouma is put off, but…slowly realizes he doesn’t care. Regardless, Izumi gets to cross-dress to reprise his role in the commercial and Ryouma falls in love at first sight. While Izumi could have it easy and become an actor like his mom, he wants to be a manga writer (but he sucks at drawing). Izumi is an anime nerd so he’s like a little, cute, insert of anime fans being represented in anime. Except, Ryouma doesn’t not Izumi is a boy.

Seems Ryouma fell in love with this idea of this girl and when they’re to reshoot an anniversary shoot of the TV advertisment, everyone gets back together. His co-child actor at the time, our second protag, Ryouma, became obsessed over this ideal cute addorible girl. Not only that, when he was little, he was used as a stand-in for a TV commercial and dressed up like a girl. So even the “handsom men” are very pretty but our main character, Izumi, just happens to be CUTE.
Even our main character’s dad is a pretty boy, though married to a hot chick.

Series is full of a lot of very pretty male characters most of whom are single. So, anyway, “Love Stage” acts like a typical BL anime. I think that’s enough of a disclaimer for those that don’t know the difference.

So calling all BL anime “yaoi” is incorrect and is like calling every romance movie pornography. On the other hand, the token word “yaoi” that people use to represent the genre, is the **clears throat** graphic pointless sex novels of two men being together. A great deal of the anime genre as a whole is just normal shounen-ai, which are normally story-based (a lot of romance comedies) about two men getting together in the end. To get a small note to why this series not “yaoi”, BL has sub-genres inside of the genre. If you’re put off by this, then feel free to quit reading. Basically, it’s all Homo-Erotica Male/Male romance. You see, I’ve been a “”yaoi” fan” for year but, technically, the better term would be that I was a fan of the Boy’s Love genre of anime/manga. So I need to preface this before continuing. If you don’t like the content, no one is asking you.
Maybe i would have preferred if they had decided to adapt another chapter of the manga, instead of this one that doesn't really have much of a story to tell.Preface: I will report and ban any homophobic comments that are posted in response to this post. It's a typical episode of the saga, funny, adorable with a bit of sexyness. But back home, for some reason, Izumi doesn't seem to be ready to see his boyfriend again - won't spoil what follows. It starts with Ryouma finishing recording a movie special, and being anxious to go back home and see Izumi again, after they had their first time together nights ago. If you haven't read the manga which this series was based of, the OVA covers chapter 16 of volume 4. If you haven't i suggest you do it first, as you will probably won't understand what is going on. If you are planning to watch this OVA i suppose you have watched the series already.
